University of Florida (UF) Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking 2 Pediatric Hepatologists to join as faculty in our collegial group. The candidates are expected to provide outpatient and inpatient care with focus on pediatric liver diseases and transplant hepatology. The division and UF Shands Children’s Hospital is undergoing significant growth. The candidate(s) will help build, grow, and run a Pediatric Liver Transplant Program. Based on data released in July 2024 by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR), the UF adult liver transplant program was No. 1 among liver transplant programs in the country. The division of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition at University of Florida currently consists of 7 Pediatric Gastroenterologists, 3 Fellows (one per year in our well-established Fellowship program), 2 Dieticians as well as 4 dedicated GI nurses and extensive administrative support. Our program already has the support in place needed for an active Hepatology service, including 2 liver transplant nurse coordinators and social workers along with the liver transplant surgery team. Other supporting specialists include transplant immunology, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, psychology, pediatric radiology and interventional radiology, and pediatric anesthesia.
The division provides inpatient services at Shands Children’s Hospital. Our rapidly growing multidisciplinary clinics represent a strong and long-lasting collaboration with partners in pediatric surgery, ENT, pulmonary and child psychology. The division has the distinction as a leader in providing outreach clinic services as well as telehealth services throughout the state of Florida. Additionally, UF Health Pediatrics has a history of educational excellence and promoting research interests. The faculty member(s) will contribute to an environment that advances the strong clinical, research, and educational missions of UF Health.

UF Health, the University of Florida’s academic health center, is the country’s only academic health center with six health-related colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. The colleges, major research centers and institutes, and clinical enterprise focus on building collaborative specialized clinical services centered on quality and innovation. The UF College of Medicine, the largest college within UF’s academic health center, is currently the highest-ranked medical school in Florida. UF Health Shands, UF Health’s private, not-for-profit hospital system, includes seven hospitals, a state-designated Level I trauma center, a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, a regional burn center, and an emergency air and ground transport program.
The Department of Pediatrics clinical services are delivered at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Nationally ranked in five pediatric specialties, UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital provides the full spectrum of pediatric specialty services. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital provides care for the children of Florida, is a major destination center for pediatric patients, both nationally and internationally, who require specialized attention for complex medical problems and represents the only quaternary-care academic pediatric center in North Florida. The children’s hospital has 208 beds, including fully equipped pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. The hospital is undergoing extensive renovations ($30+ million) to support expanding and new innovative services and programs.
The Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering innovation and advancing discovery in the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of child health and human development, educating and training pediatric scientists, and directly translating basic scientific discoveries into new patient-oriented therapies.

Requirements
Candidates must be trained in Pediatric Gastroenterology and eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida. Additional training in Transplant Hepatology is preferred. UF Health is an equal opportunity employer and women, and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
