Manager, Patient Registration
Job Summary:
This leader has operational accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of Patient Registration. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring team work tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Require a Bachelor of Arts degree in business or related field.
- Require five (5) years of experience in registration, billing, insurance processing and scheduling of patients in a medical setting in which two (2) years are in a lead or supervisory level.
- Require Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) or must be obtained within one (1) year of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer thorough knowledge of insurance rules and regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of Medicare National Coverage Determination (NCD) and Local Coverage Determination (LCD) protocols for medical necessity / Advanced Beneficiary Notice.
- Prefer demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of International Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision (ICD-10) coding and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding.
- Prefer strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
- Prefer three (3) years of experience with computers using information systems including scheduling, registration, medical necessity, billing, and other business office programs.
- Prefer strong leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork and site/cost-center based management.
- Prefer strong skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels.
- Prefer the ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving expertise.
Preferred License and Certs:
This position requires flexibility in work hours. As the department operates 24/7, the Manager must be able to adjust their schedule as needed to engage with team members across all shifts. This includes occasional weekend coverage to ensure consistent leadership presence and support for the entire team.
